Meet Sister Dorothy OIinger
“Sharing the Good News”
I came from a small place called Emery, South Dakota. In my family, faith was important. We participated in everything that was connected with the Mass in addition to many Church activities. I went to the Catholic grade school in Emery. The teachers there were Franciscans from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. I had a friend who wanted to enter a convent and begged me to go as well. I kept saying “No, no it is not for me.”
Years later, I was talking to my Pastor Father Meyer, who had two Benedictine Sisters in Yankton. He suggested contacting one of them. I wrote to Sister Beata and asked her different questions about life in a convent. In return, she sent me a list of things I would need in order to enter. I believe this is what God wanted me to do. So, here I am!
