A robin’s nest perched along the window of our Chapter room.

Greetings,

“As the sparrow finds a home and the swallow a nest to settle her young, My home is by your altars, LORD of hosts, my king and my God!” (Psalm 84:4)

Our Chapter Meetings today were highlighted with the joy of new members requesting profession.  According to the Norms of the Federation of Saint Gertrude, Novices requesting Temporary Profession and Sisters requesting Perpetual Profession come before the Monastic Chapter to make a formal request of the Professed Sisters. The Sisters then vote on the acceptance of each member. Today, we received Novice Terry into Temporary Profession (also known as First Vows) and Sister Peggy into Perpetual Profession (Final Vows).  Please pray for Novice Terry and Sister Peggy as they begin to prepare for their Professions that will be celebrated later on this summer.

Our evening prayer continued the joy of our Monastic Chapter. As we began chanting our opening hymn, the birds around our Chapel began to chirp, tweet, and sing with joy. The opening Vespers Antiphon surprisingly reflected the joy of Creation: “God’s wings will shelter us, will cover us like a nesting bird.”  Throughout our Vespers, the birds sang from the magnolia tree and Chapel eves joining our evening prayer of praise.

Blessings to you,
