Lent Retreat - February 17, 2018Befriending Silence, Tending the Heart
Lent Retreat, 2018, at the Benedictine Peace Center
We invite you to our Lent Retreat, “Befriending Silence, Tending the Heart,” on Saturday morning, February 17. Check-in begins at 9:00 a.m. with the retreat beginning at 9:30 a.m. and ending at noon.
The penitential season of Lent urges us to turn toward God with open, longing hearts. “Return to me with your whole heart,” (Joel 2:12) This retreat invites you to experience silence and enter the deep place in the heart where God abides.
Like Jesus, we are invited into the desert to be freed of illusions and rely on God’s mercy and love to sustain us. The practice of interior silence is an avenue of encounter with the Holy One: “Be still and know that I am God.” (Ps. 46:10)
Come and explore how silence can lead to freedom of heart, how you can live the spirit of Lent more fully as you return home to tend the heart in daily life.
Presenters for the morning of reflection will be Benedictine Sisters Jeanne Ranek, Doris Oberembt, and Mary Jo Polak, staff members of the Benedictine Peace Center.
