Sister Virginia Kopp - Caring for the Sick
Update 4/27/16: Sister Virginia is now with her heavenly Father. Thank you for prayers for her soul. Please see obituary for details of her life and funeral arrangements.
Sister Virginia Kopp came to the Monastery when she was 15. She was the third oldest of 13 children. The Yankton Benedictines taught her in grade school in North Dakota and she liked them and wanted to become one of them. She ministered as a nurse and in hospital administration from 1937 to 1979. She then served in Pastoral Care at St. Thomas More Hospital in Canon City, CO until her retirement in 2001.
Sr. Virginia is 100 years old and celebrated her 80th Jubilee of Monastic Profession in 2013. She is eager to join the Father in heaven when He is ready to call her to her eternal home. Her favorite part of the Rule and of Benedictine life is praying the Liturgy of the Hours.
