One of the greatest joys about being at Sacred Heart Monastery as a volunteer is the ability to serve God everyday through serving and helping others. Most of my duties are serving the Sisters directly in their daily duties, but every once in a while I get to serve the Yankton community at large. Saturday, August 27th was one of those days where the people of Yankton gathered at Memorial Park for Family Fun Day to raise money and awareness for the River City Domestic Violence Center. Sr. Mary Jo’s sister, Martha Suchy, made the most beautiful quilt with characters from the movie “Frozen” in the patchwork designs and Sr. Mary Jo gathered other room decor items to create a great room decor items to create a great raffle package! We sold raffle tickets, kids had great fun playing games, and what a hoot to see the men “walk a mile in her shoes,” but for a most wonderful purpose and cause! There are so many ways to serve God and this one was tremendously fun!
