2019 Advent Retreat at the Benedictine Peace Center
Our Advent Journey — Becoming Empty for God
Rescheduled for December 7
The Benedictine Peace Center will offer an Advent Morning of Reflection, “Our Advent Journey — Becoming Empty for God,” on Saturday, December 7, 9:30 to noon. Check-in is from 9:00-9:30 with coffee and light refreshments. To register or for more information on this event, call us at 605-668-6292. Please register by December 4.
Participants in this half-day Lenten Retreat are invited to reflect prayerfully how the gentle Advent season instructs us on how to become empty for God, even in the midst of this busy season. We will reflect on this theme during two short talks, silent reflection time, and table conversation.
Jesus’ own kenosis, his self-emptying gift of self for God’s people shows us how we too can let go of an obstacle to readiness for the coming of God in our lives.
The Blessed Mother’s fiat at the annunciation, Mary’s openness to becoming the vessel for the Incarnate Word models for us a way of becoming empty to receive the life of God in our lives.

The Advent retreats at the Benedictine Peace Center always remind me that this is a season of waiting in hope and expectation.
I am invited to be still and listen for Christ’s growing presence in my life.
Please enjoy this music reflection that was part of our 2017 Advent Retreat. May it help you wait in stillness for a deeper coming of our Lord.
