This summer, several of our sisters joined the North American Association of Benedictine Oblate Directors for a time of meetings and formation at St. Benedict Center, Schuyler, NE. Sister Patricia, the director of our Oblate program was joined by the associate directors Sisters Barbara, Bonita, and Rosemarie.
Our Sisters also assisted in the planning, presentations, and celebrations at the national conference of oblates and directors. As a previous president of the NAAOBD and their current webmaster, Sister Bonita joined in planning and preparations. Sister Mary Jo brought her talents on the organ as the music accompanist for the conference. Sister Patricia, assisted by our Sister Patricia Ann, prepared all the liturgies for both the prayer of Liturgy of the Hours and the daily Celebration of the Eucharist at the conference. Sister Marielle gave a keynote presentations for the conference. Her speech was about Benedictine Spirituality “Today and Tomorrow developed from the theme for the conference: “Continuing the Sacred Tradition” Benedictine Spirituality Today and Tomorrow.
LISTEN carefully, my child, to your master’s precepts, and incline the ear of your heart (Prov. 4:20). Receive willingly and carry out effectively your loving father’s advice, that by the labor of obedience you may return to Him from whom you had departed by the sloth of disobedience. To you, therefore, my words are now addressed, whoever you may be, who are renouncing your own will to do battle under the Lord Christ, the true King, and are taking up the strong, bright weapons of obedience (Rule of Benedict, Prologue).
